For a couple on a budget, this cake has 2 false tiers and 1 real tier. Flowers were provided by the mother of the bride and added for free.
There are several reasons a couple might opt for faux wedding cake that don’t always have to do with saving money. Sometimes couples just don’t want to deal with the hassle of cutting a stacked cake. It’s very tricky and very round. Sheet cakes save time and money, and the cake is usually tastier because it only took an hour to put together as apposed to 2 days.
In order to feed the rest of their guests they also got a sheet cake. Normally I would match the buttercream flowers to the real flowers, but the flowers arrived very last minute. All I was really able to do was make sure to incorporate the star gazer lilies since they were the focal point of the arrangement on the tiered cake.
