This was for a September wedding. I can order pre-made fall gumpaste leaves, but I’ve yet to find any I like, so I made my own and colored them to match the flowers. This is my first fall inspired wedding cake, and I’m really pleased with the way the colors pop against the cream cheese icing. This is cake is a wonderful seasonal choice, Apple Spice. We bake chunks of apple in our popular spice cake base to embody the flavor of fall. Normally, the cake is made with walnuts, but for a wedding, I recommend no nuts in case of allergies.
I ordered my gumpaste flowers pre-made, but I wasn’t pleased with the color. I used my airbrush to customize the color and add some depth.
One year later the couple came back for their first anniversary cake. I am very much against the tradition of freezer cake. No one should eat anything that’s been in a freezer for a year. Yuck! Here’s a little cake I whipped up to mark the special occasion.
Congratulations to the happy couple. I hope there are many more anniversaries to come.
