We have quite a few Adventure Time fans at the Honey Bear, so it was only a matter of time until someone asked for a cake. I myself have been known to show up to work sporting my favorite Adventure Time shirt, so this cake not only went by really fast, but it was a pleasure to make. It started with a little video I caught at the end of a cartoon, and it has expanded into quite the love affair.
My co-worker is a big fan of Red Velvet cake and Finn the human. This was the note he left me for his birthday cake instructions.
I gave away no surprises before unveiling his cake, including the fact that Jake the dog was going to be making a guest appearance on the side. I made most of the decorations out of cream cheese icing because nothing beats the vividness of the colors you can get with this icing. The dog’s face is made out of white and dark chocolate to get the detail of the face just right, and he is also a piece of iced cake, because icing blobs are wrong…so very, very wrong. The ears on Finn are made of white chocolate with a thin layer of icing on top to give it a seamless effect. Here is one more look of the face to leave you with.
I was also singing the theme song, mostly in my head, but not entirely, as I made this cake.
