Just a little fun with sprinkles and white chocolate. A father, brand new to the honey bear personalized cake experience, came in looking for something fun for his son’s birthday. He started out looking for a message in fun colors, and ended up with a cake fit for his son’s love of cartoon cars.
The difficulty for me in this cake was trying to make a stationary car look like it’s in motion. The slanting helps give it that illusion as race car tracks are slightly slanted in the real world. I went back over the eyes after the decal was laid down to give them a little extra pop. I also want to note that in my experience, I’ve found kids get a kick out of having something uniquely theirs for their birthday, something that is just for them and no one else. For example, if you get a bunch of cupcakes for a party and only one has a “Happy Birthday” pick, it will make that one cupcake that much more special. In this case, the chocolate car is easily removable and the perfect size to make a lucky 5 year old’s day. When I was a kid I liked the slice of cake with my name on it or the piece with the largest buttercream rose, even though that was way too much frosting for me. It’s a very simple concept, and it can make a kids day. I should also add that if you have twins, or a joint children’s birthday, it’s only fair that each kid have an equally sized unique item on/with their slice of cake.
