I’m learning a new cake decorating technique through experimentation. This is the first time I used it on an order.A customer came in looking for a Beatles cake, but my fear of copyright infringement made me very wary. However, upon a consultation with someone very knowledgable in copyright law, I discovered you cannot copyright an idea, only trademark it. Therefore, I cannot form a band and call myself the Beatles or play their music and charge money, however, I can make a cartoon image of their likeness and title it the Beatles. I still avoid logos, album covers, photographs, and animated likenesses.
My fallback for detailed decoration is almost always chocolate, unless I have several hours at my disposal. Steadily, I’m making advancements in icing decorations. This particular design is made entirely of buttercream. I’m still working on this technique, but overall, I’m really pleased I could make this Beatles cake for a very important birthday party.
