Transplant Cupcakes

The gift of a new kidney is definitely an occasion for cupcakes.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again.  I love transplant cakes.  If your friend or family member has a good sense of humor and an upbeat perspective on their circumstances, I would highly recommend the transplant cake, with or without blood.  Receiving a new organ is like receiving a new lease on life, and if that isn’t an occasion for cake, then I just don’t what is.

One cupcake was for the donor, and one was for the recipient.  The star sprinkles were merely a nod to the Spaceman Spiff cake I made earlier for the recipient.  The cupcake on the left is Chocolate Raspberry with a chocolate kidney, and the one on the right is a  Classic Raspberry cupcake.  The blood is made from red colored apricot glaze.
