I’ve visited The Parlor many times for comedy shows, but I’ve never tried to give anyone a cupcake. They have wonderful meet-and-greets after each show, and it reminded me a lot of the signing lines at Third Place Books, so I thought I’d give it a shot. I figured the worse thing that could happen would be that someone would tell me “no”, but I’d still get to enjoy a wonderfully funny show. I’ve been watching clips and re-runs of Kids in the Hall since I was in middle school, and I couldn’t think of a more appropriate person to be the first comedian to receive a cupcake.
Although the beginning of the stand-up routine was a little rude and crude, the second half reminded me of why Dave Foley’s material has kept me laughing for so many years. I know everyone is tired of me saying this, but he was very nice in person. I made him a cupcake from the cartoon Dan Vs in which he provides the voice of Chris. Dan Vs is in its 3rd season on The Hub and Dave informs me is well loved by his daughter, who has also done voice work and acting since she was 3.
I made Dave Foley a very last minute, and fresh out of the oven cupcake. It’s a Mint Chocolate Cupcake with the standard chocolate decor.
If Dave Foley happens to be stopping in your town, I would highly recommend his show. I have to warn you, though, it’s not family friendly, but very much worth it.
