Hazel has become one of my favorite kids to make birthday cakes for.
This year her mom wanted me to do a repeat of last year, but with her busy schedule she didn’t have any time to get toys. Hazel’s mom has been coming to our bakery for her daughter’s cakes since Hazel was born, so they have earned the red carpet treatment as far as birthday cakes go.
I decided last year I was a little heavy handed with the airbrush, so this year I went lighter on the background color and focused more on the flowers. Now, before you get all bent out of shape about Tinkerbell waving her wand in the corner, this customer doesn’t pay for special decoration. She’s been so kind about keeping things simple and fun that I gave them the Tinkerbell as a free surprise. If she had asked for it, I would have said no, but since she always gives me free reign, I knew she would enjoy the surprise. If they come back again next June, I know I did well.
