Bill Farmer is most famous for taking over for the voice of Goofy in 1987. I’m a big fan of Goof Troop, so I made sure to stop in and visit him at the Emerald City Comicon. He had a long line of fans, and I could hear him doing Goofy impressions the whole time. I wasn’t originally planning on getting an autograph, but then I remembered he was also in RoboCop, and Bill Farmer had provided photos of his minor role. He played one of the news reporters, Justin Ballard-Watkins.
Bill Farmer is a funny, funny man, with almost 30 years of making people laugh with his very talented voice work. I believe laughter is very important to a society. It makes people happy, lifting their spirits, and reminding them that the world isn’t always such a terrible place. Bill Farmer makes people laugh so very easily and his fan base includes people of all ages. Not to mention, everyone loves Goofy. He was a great dad on Goof Troop, and he saved the world in the Kingdom Hearts video game series.
I’m told Bill Farmer enjoys some milk and cookies before bed each night, and I wish I had made him a cookie instead. I made him a chocolate cupcake iced with mocha buttercream. Goofy is made out dark and colored white chocolate.
Bill Farmer may have already been inducted into the Disney Legends, but he’s still got a long career ahead of him. He’s constantly on the go with work and appearances. He’s also jumps at the opportunity to teach a new generation of voice actors and comedians alike with demos, classes, and one on one training through his production company Toonehouse Inc. I highly recommend checking him out if he comes to your town, and don’t forget the kids.
