I met the one and only Nancy Cartwright, voice of Bart Simpson, at the 2014 Emerald City Comicon. I don’t think anyone is a bigger Bart Simpson fan than Nancy Cartwright herself. She’s just a kid trapped in an adult body having the time of her life. I’d seen interviews with her before, but nothing prepared me for meeting her in person.
She was very sweet and friendly, and had a wonderful playfulness with all of her fans. My favorite character she does is Ralph because he has the best lines in The Simpsons. Here are just some of my favorites:
“This is my sandbox. I’m not allowed to go in the deep end”
“Fireworks make my ears yell.”
“Me fail English? That’s unpossible!”
My favorite Nancy Cartwright moment from comicon was at the beginning of her panel; she immediately jumped off the stage and did a little lap around the audience. I also died laughing during the voice actors panel when she read the lines of Yoda from Star Wars in the voice of Ralph Wiggums.
Nancy Cartwright received a White Chocolate Strawberry cupcake with chocolate decor. She’s a very talented woman with an amazing career. Bart Simpson is a household name, and he couldn’t have done it without the perfect voice. She’s also made several generous charitable contributions to various organizations, including my personal favorite, the Make a Wish Foundation. She has awards for her acting as well as several awards for her philanthropy.
Nancy Cartwright has provided the voice for major characters on The Rugrats, The Snorks, Animaniacs, and Kim Possible, in addition to The Simpsons. She’s an inspiration and mentor to actors and voice actors alike. She says, “I’ve always believed it was important to do the best that I could, whatever I did, and to help others along the way.” Nancy Cartwright has made generations of people smile and laugh, and I wish her many more years in the entertainment industry.
